BURN is in Cambodia!! Loving Jesus, Loving His people into Him!
This time only thirty years ago, one in five Cambodian people were being tortured and brutally murdered in a cruel regime that slaughtered a total of 1.7 million people in four years. Cambodia has the world’s highest rate of widows and orphans… an average annual ‘salary’ of US$300… around 100 000 people ‘stuck’ within the oppressive walls of the sex industry… (1/3 of these precious ones are under 18 years old) … and sees 1.2 million children trafficked within and across its borders every year…
In the midst of the corruption, the poverty, the disease and oppression…
… Jesus cannot help but pour out His Abundant Love upon this nation!!
At the heart of the Buddhist world, these people are fully aware of and have experienced much within the spiritual realm and are aching for pure, real, raw encounter with the One True God. And He aches for them. The orphaned must be welcomed Home as Sons and Daughters. The forgotten and unlovely must be embraced in unconditional Love. The children of the slums and dumps must be clothed in their Royal garments. The sick must receive all His stripes purchased. The poor must receive their Inheritance of all the Heavenly riches. The lost and dying and in-darkness must encounter the fullness of the Life of Jesus Christ.
It’s all totally supernatural. Way too big to be achieved through human hands alone…
The key is intimate, fiery, laid-down, sacrificial, passionate worship!
Last year, facedown, I wept before the Lord in intercession for this nation that I love, and He said to me:
“You cannot do justice without first receiving My
heart for the world in the place of worship.
And don’t even bother worshipping if you
don’t then do justice.”
This beautiful marriage of worship and justice is the
heartbeat of BURN CAMBODIA.
As we pour our lives out on the altar and become the offering, He answers by Fire and pour Himself out upon a nation! As we allow our hearts to be broken for what breaks His, He releases us onto the streets and into the slums to be the answers to our own prayers! As we celebrate who He is, drinking deeply of His sweet sweet Wine and getting messy in His glorious Presence, the fun, silliness and Joy of the River seeps out and washes over a thirsty people! As we become inconvenienced for Him, waste ourselves on Him, become foolish for Him … A NATION IS COMING HOME INTO LOVE!
We launched BURN Cambodia in late 2009 and are spending our days going into the hospitals and healing the sick, dancing with orphans, washing dusty feet, doing prayer ministery with ex-prostitues and ex-ladyboys, giving rural pastors an opportunity to learn about worship, intercession, the prophetic realm and healing and just, basically, seeing His Kingdom invade the Kingdom of Cambodia! But none of this would even be remotely possible if we weren’t getting lost in Him first… it’s all about His Face; about pouring out lives out as a fragrant offering. It’s our job and our privilege, to be the fragrance of Christ to a nation who knows they need Him. He has posted us as Watchmen on the walls of this nation, and we are seeing breakthrough as we seek more of His Heart and the nation is changing… but we can’t do it alone…
WILL YOU COME BURN FOR A NATION WITH US??
It’s all just about loving the one right before us.
I want to see stadiums of people celebrating Jesus, and I know I’ll see this nation step into her fullness as His Cambodian Bride… but He’s given me the mandate of loving the one right in front of me. To look at the massive massive need in a country like this is too huge, too intimidating… but to look into the eyes of the one right in front of me who longs to be Loved? and to Love them with an eternal Love, right out of the Throne Room? That I can do. And that is what will change a nation.
