Timely and with Unction (Why is called “Kingdoms” anyway?)
Timely and with Unction (Why is called “Kingdoms” anyway?)
This project could be the most timely worship album I have ever released. It has been over a year since my last full length album, “Keep This Love Alive.” Those of you who know me likely understand that waiting a year for a new album is a long time for me!
Though I have been working hard last fall on a quasi live/studio CD + DVD that will come out later this year, there were a series of live “moments” captured from the last 12 months that I could not stay away from! The melodies, lyrics and overall “flow” with the band was more than just another “good worship set.” It was more than even just good songs captured with clean takes.
They were musical pockets of prophetic unction that carried something fresh for the season. As I would listen through them on long drives between cities or on flights between nations (as I often listen through live recordings reflecting on what God accomplished), the sound would absolutely hijack 100% of my attention! Before I knew what was even going on, I was either on my face prostrate in my house or praying like a madman on the plane! Something instantly connected my spirit to His Spirit and that was it!
What is so amazing about this is that I’m usually the most critical when it comes to my music (as most musicians are). It is hard for me to listen without picking out the flaws, bad notes, etc. But these tracks were somehow different. Although they are a long ways from perfect as you will soon discover (I’m quick to not promise a perfect and sterile record). But these collection of songs (pre-written and spontaneous) simply facilitate a clear and charged environment to connect with God and access new stuff from His perspective. That is the best way I can describe it.
This album is a direct representation of the deep groaning of my heart for this season. And that “groaning” is more than just releasing one more album to chalk up on the discography list.
Just as the Sons of Issachar “understood the times and seasons” as mentioned in 1 Chronicles 12:32, I believe God is raising up prophetic musicians who can access, articulate and release words and songs for the season. King David set an example and was renown for this very thing! He is even recorded as singing the very words the Savior of the World would later utter while delivering mankind from sin on the cross at Calvary (Psalm 22:1).
There is a clear prophetic message somehow woven throughout the songs, prayers and spontaneous moments that create “Kingdoms.” My prayer is that you will get “caught” up as well and God will hijack you for a fresh encounter. While war rages and economies collapse and systems of the world decay, there is a Kingdom and a people that will never be shaken, but endure steadfast forever.
“And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, the kingdoms of this world will become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.” – Revelation 11:15
