As a community, we’ve been intentional in praying love, protection, truth, transparency and wisdom over both candidates and their running mates. Our focus has been and is “Jesus, YOU are the King we choose” and “Lord, give us humility and wisdom to vote in & with righteousness and integrity and have mercy on us all” rather than exalting one candidate over another. In regard to the economy, we’ve been praying that those who serve in the financial sector would experience true awakening; that the Lord would become the treasure of their hearts and that they would know that they are the treasure of His heart.

Continuing in this vein, we’d like to invite all of you and those you represent to participate in the upcoming events. Pass it on.

Friday the 24th is our “fourth Friday Burn” (a creative worship event that is set on ministering to the Lord and on making room for Him to move and breathe among us) beginning at 10:00 a.m. and ending when we end & Friday the 31st @ 10 a.m. will be 24 hours of worship & intercession led by various worship leaders from around the Island. If you/a group would like to sign up for a two hour slot on either day to worship & pray we would LOVE that.

On Saturday, Nov. 1st there are a couple of different regional events that some of us are participating in. One in particular is a 6 am watch at the Brooklyn House of Prayer that will coincide with Cindy Jacob’s Convergence Conference being held there. (They will be focused on praying for Wall Street and the economy)

Sunday belongs to the local church communities and families.

However, Monday starts our Global Bridegroom Fast ( ask me about it some time – it’s our “date”with the Lord) which lands quite conveniently as a lead in to the Election. We’re signing up to pray in one or two hour individual/small group “watches” from 7:00 p.m. Monday evening until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening. Any way you can make that work for you would be dynamite. Patti is coordinating those slots.

Then, we’re joining as a larger community for worship, intercession, the Word & ministry starting at 7:30 until 10 p.m. ish that we’d LOVE to have as many people as would like to be there to come and jump in to minister to the Lord. What comes of all of this is up to the Lord.

As an aside regarding the election prayer focus when it comes up:

This is an emotionally charged event and time. Please keep in mind that our hearts are to come together in love and respect, so we ask you to help us protect and oversee the atmosphere by being truly welcoming to all who come in (some may actually need prayer themselves – please look for that), “praying without swaying” (meaning trying to press a political agenda) and protecting the integrity of freedom in Christ so we don’t breed judgment and bitterness between each other as we watch and pray.

Also, we’re not intending to have a TV available at the HoP during the election process because as a community, we’re calling each other to be terribly focused on ministering to the Lord as our primary call and also because there are many loving, believing brothers and sisters who all are voting according to their conscience but not necessarily according to each other’s. We really, really honor that and ask that all of us would do the same and pray without personal agenda; cultivating a heart that is sensitive to the Lord and each other that is full of love and blessing.

(Although we will all be inclined to hear/see what is happening, I tend to believe that the media input will become a polarizing catalyst; dividing us rather than acting as a servant of worship and prayer. He may have an entirely different agenda and we want to move according to His heart not our own. It’s a very hard line to tow but I am convinced that for us at least it is the one that will keep us most focused on Him and on love in communion rather than on our passions, fears and anxieties or even hopes and dreams.)

By no means am I implying that any of you have a different heart, I have no idea what is in yours, but I want to be sure to communicate OURS clearly so we don’t stumble over anything. However, within the context of focusing on ministering to the Lord and praying, you are truly welcome to jump into what is going on, create in worship and remain free to be who you are!

Let me know what you think.

love, t & IHOP-LI
